Square Feet's Charity of the Year: The Milk&You Project

As a community-focussed business we are always trying to support local charities and good causes, from providing meeting rooms for events, to donations and more, we like to play our part.
As such, this year we decided it was time to focus on a specific cause by raising funds and awareness for a small local charity, from there Square Feet’s ‘Charity of the Year’ was born!
In the run up to our Square Feet Christmas party, all our tenants nominated a range of deserving charities and we were so pleased with the response we got! In the end we decided on Milk&You Project who are a Daventry-based charity who are planning on expanding their service across Northamptonshire.
The Milk&You Project is Northamptonshire’s only parent peer support service that focuses on supporting families through their breastfeeding journey from pregnancy until a child’s 5th birthday. They believe in not just supporting the parents but those around the family who can influence and offer help to them.
The ladies at Milk&You, along with their wonderful volunteers, provide Infant feeding support groups where new parents can come to for advice, support or just a safe space to breastfeed in peace whist having a spot of lunch or a cuppa. They also collect donations of children’s clothing and toys to help support families who are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
Last year Milk&You launched their breast-feeding friendly scheme in Daventry and it was such a success that they are now rolling it out across the county! The scheme aims to support new mums on their journey back to work and provide them with locations where they can breastfeed in a safe and welcoming environment. By working with local businesses to support them in offering breast-feeding and family friendly policies, Milk&You aim to help working mums get back to work sooner whilst still being able to fulfil everything they want to as mothers and improve parents emotional and mental wellbeing.
They also provide a breast-pump loan service to employees of companies who sign up to the scheme. This is a great opportunity to help families and businesses alike so we are keen to get involved.

Square Feet are so excited to be helping with raising awareness for the Breastfeeding friendly scheme with local Northamptonshire businesses. We are also holding fund-raising events throughout the year to raise money so Milk&You can buy more pumps and support more families and businesses. The first of event is our Summer Party on 24th June at Oxford House, Cliftonville.
